Manga Review : Fist of North Star: Jagi Gaiden

Ahh... The Fist of North Star. A manga by Buronson and illustrated by Hara Tetsuo. But wait, this isn`t the original manga, it`s a gaiden a.k.a side story. A side story for Jagi, so called 3rd student of Ryuken (well technically 4rd, but Kenshiro was always been considered as the youngest) illustrated by Shinichi Hiromoto.

So, what does Jagi Gaiden brings onto the table? Well 1st you need to know who is Jagi and how he was portray in the original manga. Nothing more then a pathetic character whose suppose to be one of the student of Hokuto Shinken. But why is he so pathetic since all of his brothers had such charisma in the story? Well, Jagi Gaiden would put it all in perspective.
While staying true to the original plot, some new character were added to give depth to Jagi Gaiden story. How Jagi fallen in deep despair was explain by the death of Anna, Jagi love interest. And of course, Jagi would blame everyone and everthing that happens around him. Rather then turn out to be a pathetic person, Jagi turns out to be a rather sad, misunderstood delinquent. Honestly, make me felt sympathy for him.

Now for the art, Shinichi Hiromoto has a very powerful strokes and seen to be all over the place. But all is good. Emotions are portray in a very strong way. New readers might be turn off by the drawing, but the story will get u hook, provided that u know abit of the Fist of North Star lore.

Manga Review : Onani Master Kurosawa

Let see,.. Where do we start. The title? Well, frankly the title doesnt give off a good 1st impression now does it? But seriously, this manga by Ise Katsura and illustrated by Yoko, is more then just an ecchi genre manga.

Oh, for those of you who doesnt know what`s onani is,.. It`s fapping, spanking the liltle monkey, mas-tru-ba-te. So, what do you think so far? Disgust? Turn on? Too bad for the later, you`ll need to find your 'happy time' material somewhere else, and the former, dont judge a book by it`s cover never had a more appropriate meaning.
The story starts with our antagonist Kurosawa doing his favorate past time in an isolate
d girl washroom in a remote corner of his school building. Here where he meets an other main
character Kitahara Aya. Kitahara makes him agree to take revenge on people who bulies her.

Everything was fine till he fallen for Takigawa Magisteru. In a twaist of event, Kitahara asked him to take revenge on Takigawa which initially was refused by him till he found out that she is in love with Nagatsuka Keiji. Fallen deeper in
despair, finally he agrees with Kitahara.

Events unfolds further as Kurosawa realize his mistake and tries to make amends by confessing to his action in front of everyone. Here is where the main character changes from a gloomy, self-centered person into someone who is just like you and me; trying to reach out for connection. And in the process starts to appreciate the importance of friends, of being connected to someone else.

Would Kitahara follows in his steps? Or has she fallen too deep to be reached? You guys wouldnt want me to give it all out, right?
Well, illustration wise, it`s something quite different then your mainstream manga. Yoko uses a pencil style sketch for the illustration. The stoke was clean, so it wont be overwhelming for someone who is new to manga. Not your average manga as the plot is deep and more serious. What I would say if you have a certain view of what manga is, then this is the manga that would change you mind. For those who are interested, you can download it from www.mangatraders.com.
